President calls for a Coalition of the Willing from the US, UN, EU, UK, Australia and New Zealand.

April 22, 2009

The situation in Fiji today is totally untenable and no foreign government, regional or international body including non governmental organisations can legally and morally continue to treat Fiji’s illegal junta with kid’s gloves. Who are we trying to kid?

Both the Australian & NZ Governments are trying to shy away from imposing further sanctions claiming it will only further disadvantage the innocent victims, yet it knows full well of the intimidation, corruption, militarisation of the civil service and rule of the gun happening in Fiji at this very moment.

The UN is guilty of double standards by condemning the illegal abrogation of the 1997 Constitution by the Fijian Military on one hand, yet on the other hand allows itself to be represented by the same illegal soldiers taking part in UN Peacekeeping duties to other parts of the world!

The US too is not absolved from it share of double standards as well because whilst its Secretary of State Ms. Clinton condemns Josefa Iloilo’s illegal abrogation of the 1997 Constitution, it too continues to allow these same illegal soldiers to be part of its US-led MFO (Multi Forces Observers) in Sinai.

I challenge the US, UN, EU, UK, Australia and NZ Governments to act justly, responsibly and condemn Fiji’s illegal junta not only with words, but reinforced with smart sanctions.

For example, it could impose smart sanctions such as refusing Josefa Iloilo to come to Australia for his regular Medical Treatment, withdrawing of Aid, withdrawal of Military troops seconded by the illegal Fiji Military to the UN and US led Forces; criminalise all its citizens who have sworn illegal oaths to the illegal Fijian junta, travel bans on everyone connected with this illegal junta, etc. This is the only language a rouge government knows, which is a well known fact, so why pretend otherwise?

The innocent victims in Fiji are already being disadvantaged whether sanctions are imposed or not, so it makes very little difference to them, however if smart sanctions are not taken against the illegal Fijian junta now, then their miseries and woes will only turn into despair. The innocent victims can accept short term suffering if it sees hope at the end of the tunnel, but will wallow in despair, if they see no hope, as in the current situation.

I urge the US, UN, EU, UK, Australia and NZ on behalf of the Solivakasama Worldwide Movement to be part of its Coalition of the willing and act together to topple the illegal junta in Fiji, restore democracy and the rule of law in Fiji now and not wait until it is too late to intervene.

Tui Savu.

Solivakasama Worldwide Movement.

President.

    Tui,

Welcome to the real world, bro. The metropolitan powers are governed first and foremost by self interest. If you examine the balance of trade between Australia and New Zealand you will see that these countries get more out of Fiji than they put in from their foreign aid. They are saying they don’t want to impose tough sanctions that will hurt the ordinary fiji citzen, but this is doublt talk. What they actually mean is that they don’t want their economy to suffer by their own sanctions. In the current depressed global economy and unprecedented unemployment levels in Australia and NZ they don.t want to rock the boat too much, You know that very well, bro. Its called “real politik”

Usa and his team in Sydney will have to rethink their strategy, to continue to apply the pressure on Australia and NZ but not to be too dependent on them doing much beyond what they’re doing now.

Clearly that leaves only two possibilities. Action from within Fiji and action at the mutli-lateral level. In terms of the later I would suggest action to bring Frank and Iloilo before the International Criminal Court in the Hague should be a priority. As a lawyer I expect you to be leading the charge on this one

    But appreciate yr leadership, bro

Ropate i double that. the developed world ie OZ/NZ/USA etc is such because they exploit the underdeveloped small weak countries like eg: fiji. Yeah i hear you saying ” if only fiji had, say, OIL !!!!! in such circumstances Tui you wont need to plead with oz/nz/usa. they will be in there getting it right for them!!!!!!

Thanks Tui. As usual a great article and well said but action needs to be taken rather than just talking about it.

I tend to agree with Katalina and Lusianna to put anything into action we need to unite and look to just one group of people for guidance.

    Usa is a leader.

Just better for the struggle if he joined forces with us here where he is already a member and Jone Baledrokadroka on board too. We are stronger together than fighting our own little battles.

But who knows? maybe he can really show us something different with his upcoming site .. I for one still wait patiently for the E_Petition page. Maybe Usa is set to get that rolling over there ..

  10. April 22, 2009 11:13 AM

Folks, maybe Tui Savu, Usaia, Jone Baledrokadroka and gang are already talking and who knows we could be pleasantly suprised with a joint protest march in Canberra or something else, so let’s trust these leaders with Fiji’s best interest at heart.

I, myself am starting to see the converging of like minds in Canberra or elsewhere and these are indeed onmious signs for the illegal junta in Fiji.

    Meju hila vata!!!

E-Petitions are a great idea and should be constructed on the website.

Because I reside here in OZ I would use the information given by Mr Tui Savu.

Katalina this is just an example and perhaps others could give their input.

    OK here we go!

We could break it up because some of us will disagree with some of the stuff we are petitioning for.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister of Australia, leader of the elected Labour Govt, Mr Kevin Rudd:

    1. To refuse entry of Fiji’s illegal President, Josefa Iloilo for his regular Medical Treatment.

    2. Withdraw of Australian Aid to Fiji.

    3. Withdraw Military troops seconded by the illegal Fiji Military to the UN and US led Forces.

    4. Criminalise all its citizens who have sworn illegal oaths to the illegal Fijian junta and so on.

The EU, US, UN, Australia and NZ Governments should act justly, responsibly and condemn Fiji’s illegal junta not only with words, but reinforced with the above smart sanctions.

We the law abiding people realize that this is the only language an illegal rogue government knows, which is a well known fact. Please don’t pretend otherwise.

The innocent victims in Fiji are already suffering and being disadvantaged whether sanctions are imposed or not, so it makes very little difference to them, however if smart sanctions are not taken against the illegal Fijian junta now, then their miseries and woes will only turn into despair. The innocent victims can accept short term suffering if it sees hope at the end of the tunnel, but will wallow in despair, if they see no hope, as in the current situation.

I urge the EU, US, UN, Australia and NZ on behalf of the undersigned to be part of its Coalition and act together to topple the illegal junta in Fiji, restore democracy and the rule of law in Fiji now and not wait until it is too late to intervene.

Too much pussy footing, treading softly and don’t rock the boat kind of attitude abounds with all these so called leaders. We need straight shooters like the PM of Samoa. Even as he gave it straight in Vore’s face Vore’s response was very muffled. Its a behaviour of a coward who rambles at people in a false impression of heroics but when returned the compliments he cowers into his cowardly shell. Little do these leaders realise that if stricter measures are imposed it will only last less longer than continuing this status quo. So for a short term suffering on both sides we can resolve the problem much quicker and things will improve much better than continuing on with this dibilitating dictatorship. Time for dialogue is over since its been tried for the last two and half years without any success as we are dealing with a conniving liar and one who has devious and deceitful agendas. If we don’t do anything serious now then it will once again slip into oblivion and these thugs will get away with their crimes for much longer. What more does it take to stir the shit out us to take the necessary action. We have been abused left right and center and yet we do not lift a finger to react against these abuses.

    @ Na Vosa

I hope we will receive that pleasant surprise you have just mentioned.

Samy great work and all the time it was there in front of our eyes.

Once again thank you Tui and like Samy said we can use what you have written.

Peace Pipe I agree – too much pussy footing!

My heart goes out to those living in Fiji and having to put up with the force line govt.

I receive emails like this everyday and it is heart breaking.

    Bula Lusi,

Sad times in Fiji. No one wants to stand up to dictatorship.

We are likely to be in this situation for a long time. There is little evidence that anyone wants to restore democracy.

It seems the world is getting a little tired of the antics of the illegal junta and don’t seem to care. We will continue to be isolated.

Still, for those of us that live here, we have to do the best we can and it is not easy. You are fortunate you live in a free country.

I keep trying to remind myself that everyone is different and one day there will be accountability. Also life is too short for bitterness.

Majority of Australians have spent some time in Fiji either working there or have used it as a holiday destination and simply love the place and its people.

I am certain they will be only too willing to sign the petition. The same should apply with citizens of other countries.

So please SWM get to work on the E-Petitions.

SWM will get its webmaster to start working on this great ingenuity by Samy when business open tomorrow. Once again SWM would like to acknowledge the great assistance of Samy and hope this is a positive sign of bigger and better things to come.
It will be posted in the E-Petition link on the website for all to use and sent directly to its intended receiver – none other than Prime Minister Kevin Rudd of Australia and to others mentioned in the E-Petition as well.
Keep up the fight because we are doing this for the numerous who are enslaved in Fiji and cannot speak their minds out of fear. They are relying on us their brothers and sisters overseas to stroke the flames of resistance.

@ Samy, that is a nice start. Thanks for opening the door.

Also will you please design one for the Government Machinery on the ground. It’s great to aggravate International Communities BUT better to ruffle the feathers and unseat Fijian oppressors.

Speaking of which, @ Island Boy, bula Tau.
Got one foot out the door will you check your email later on today ?
Need your assistance on this E_Petition and once that is up and running I will be very pleased to tap into the October event.

    @ Free Fiji,
IB should supply us with Local Information.

    And thanks again Samy.

    Bula Fiji
good to see that everything is rosie in Fiji and that ther men of Kadavu have already lost their testicles to the regime , I suppose we will find out in the next couple of years , for how much exactly .:-
    http://www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=119842
Also , I wonder what the virtuous Teachers have in stall for your children next , once they have groomed them to become perfect , attentive and studious . Will they be taught socialism and forced to drill at school for later induction into Frank’s Army ? :-

Who knows what the future holds for Fiji as no one seems to be resisting at the moment . :-

There are several points of view coming from people within fiji , people who have loved ones in fiji and people who have businesses or business connections in Fiji .
The South Africans took 30 years to overcome the oppressors .
If something constructive and decisive isn’t done soon , there won’t be a Fiji worth saving .
If I was Fijian , given the lack of Leadership coming out of there right now , I’d be looking to migrate , the chances of succeeding are far greater now .
As usual , no matter what the aussies and Kiwis do , it will be their fault , not Fijians .

@ Samy, last 3 hours I did nothing but rearrange your letter on the E-Petition page 17x and using the 3 computers here; submitted to the mighty Australian Prime Minister. A bit of an overkill but what the heck I loved every minute of it ! it is new, it is a breath of fresh air and I went for a killing.

People on the ground — make your move and we will fly out there and march alongside you without sticks and without stones but march in the thousands we should — we must.

Inaction is your statement of acceptance. Don’t take this lying down. If I have to die alongside you then so be it. We will not have died in vain. We will die heros. For our blood will save Fiji’s future generations.
