Keep up the resistence against the illegal junta!!!

September 21, 2009

Bula vinaka bloggers, Well as you may have realised, I was away for several days last week attending to a trial against an industry, which is much more powerful than the illegal junta in Fiji.

A Fijian man, who is a good friend of mine sought my assistance several months ago to defend charges against him which he felt were unfair and unjust. He felt the Company he worked for should at least have been implicated in the charges as well, but it seems he was being made the scape goat by the Industry and Government.

I agreed to defend his case pro bono because I felt a great miscarriage of justice was being done to this man and asked another Fijian friend to come along in support, so we both took 4 days leave to assist our friend in need.

When we adjourned last Friday (18th), we all came away feeling elated because we believed we now stood a very good chance of winning this case, despite the odds staked against us from the outset, especially fighting this billion dollar industry. This case has the potential of changing the laws regulating this particular industry in Queensland!

I mentioned the above to put things into perspective regarding our opposing and objecting to Fiji’s illegal junta. At times we may feel our objection is going nowhere and some have given up the struggle and moved on other things, yet I want to encourage you all, this is exactly what the illegal junta wants us to do is give up the struggle.  The innocent victims in Fiji needs us to stand up for their rights because if not you, then who?

On many occasions, I have used a phrase I coined whilst studying in the US and I want to say it again to encourage you, ‘all good things come the hard way’ or in Fijian ‘na veika vinaka e kune ena vei sala dredre.’

Keep up the resistence and we shall overcome! Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Yes, we can!

    Well done Tui,
Together we will remove and destroy forever the coup culture that has riddled our islands Paradise.

    Thanks Mark..

A great website. I clicked on the policy link and found the following inspirational passage:

“We can perhaps remember, even if only for a time, that those who live with us are our brothers; that they share with us the same short moment of life; that they seek, as we do, nothing but the chance to live out their lives in purpose and happiness, winning what satisfaction and fulfillment they can. Surely this bond of common faith, this bond of common goal, can begin to teach us something. Surely, we can learn, at least, to look at those around us as fellow men. And surely we can begin to work a little harder to bind up the wounds among us and to become in our own hearts brothers and countrymen once again.”

    Robert Kennedy

    Thanks again
