Fiji censorship extended, may remain for 2009

August 25, 2009

LOCAL NEWS

Bloggers, I have stated this many times before and I will say it again, the illegal junta will continue to use their illegal laws to curtail your freedom! Do you truly think they will lift their PER? If so, stop deluding yourselves. These are not rational or reasonable persons but criminals of the highest order. They know full well if a democratic government is returned to Fiji, they will hang for their crimes! The PER folks will not only continue until the end of the the year, but will continue beyond 2014! Fiji is a dictatorship! Frank keeps extending the rope and you continue to voluntarily strangle yourself by obeying it!

The Public Emergency Regulation, which empowers the Fiji Government to censor the media and prohibit meetings, is set to remain for the rest of the year, at least. Government spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni has said that the PER will be extended by another month. He added that “it would probably be there for the rest of the year”. Lt-Col Leweni had said that Fiji as a whole has benefited from the emergency regulations since it was first imposed following the abrogation of Fiji’s Constitution on April 10 this year. Under the regulations, police, military and civil servants have the powers to stop events and functions they deem to be a threat to the security of the community and the nation.

It’s time that all the Military personnel supporting this Regime were named and shamed and their families exposed.
This wouldn’t be easy to do, because many Fijians are related to them, but it must be done.
Every Soldier, Sailor and public servant, must be named and their addresses exposed for all to see.

It is time for all Law biding Military Officers to resign !
By remaining in the Military, they are seen as supporters of this illegal Regime, and consequently, enable it to survive !
They should resign now, knowing that if they don’t, that from this day on, they are guilty of High Treason, as are Frank and his followers.
The time has come to prove who you are and what you represent.
Your children will Judge you as much by what you do, as that which you choose not to do !

All these people have been murdered while Frank Bainimarama was Commander of the Military in 2000 and Interim Prime Minister and Commander of the Military, since 2006.

5 Counter Revolutionary Warfare Soldiers ( Rabuka’s Elite Body guards ), Murdered by fellow Fijian soldiers of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces in 2000 :-
    *** Selesitano Kalounivale ***
    *** Jone Davui ***
    *** Epineri Bainimoli ***
    *** Lagani Rokowaqa ***
    *** Iowane Waseroma ***
One of these men was totally innocent as he wasn’t even at the Camp nor involved in any of the atrocities the previous few days.

Innocent, unarmed Fijian Citizens, murdered by Soldiers of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces since 2006 :-
    *** Nimilote Verebasaga ***
    *** Sakiusa Rabaka ***

Innocent, unarmed Fijian Citizens, murdered by members of the Fiji Police force since 2006 :-
    *** Tevita Malasebe ***
    *** Josefa Baleiloa ***

Knowing that some Fijians may be related to or friends of the deceased I have mentioned here and that it may bring back bad memories, I’d like to apologise in advance for any discomfort, but want you to understand that I feel it is necessary to share Frank Bainimarama’s true character and violent history, with the International community and to remind Fijians also, of the scum they are now dealing with.

I am not listening to the news like I used to before April 2009 because the contents are so deviod of any interesting issues but just full of interim propaganda. I don’t buy newspaper anymore and no longer look forward to the 6pm tv news. Why is all this happening? Because of the PER. We have been grossly deprived of our rights and theres been no avenue for recourse for us. I am considering packing up and quitting this struggle since we are getting nowhere soon with what Tui Savu rightfully terms as these irrational and unreasonable criminals of the highest order.

    @ Peace Pipe,

don’t give up the struggle. I know at times we all get frustrated because of the inaction of the people back home, but if they are so intimidated and cannot act out of fear, then the obligation is upon us overseas to keep the struggle alive.

The illegal junta are hoping people overseas will give up the fight because once we do, then they will go in for the kill because by then, no one cares anymore.

That is why is it crucial for people like us to continue, even when it seems there is no hope because believe you me, this illgeal junta cannot rule on forever and will one day succumb and fall and guess what, I will be there to condemn them.

The problem is when those who oppose Frank resign, they leave him in that much stronger a position. This goes back to 2003, when he advised all military officers against his taking over government to resign. So they turn in their weapons, lose their military authority, and then what. Frank ends up with full support for what he does from those that remain.

The same corrupt tactic was used in the campaign to promote the samycharter. In the presence of armed police and military personnel, only supporters show up, so Frank claims 90% support.

It would be better if the army officers who oppose Frank remain in the army but stand up to oppose him, even at risk of court martial. This would take courage, but it is the only way to expose the fact that Frank may have very little support within the army. What he has is financial desperation and intimidation amongst the soldiers, and that is what keeps his band of criminals going.

Soldiers are supposed to stand up and fight, not go off whimpering with their tails between their legs.
