This would be a great idea if businesses weren’t shutting down all over Fiji and imports weren’t declining at such an alarming rate :-

Frank’s reality is straight out of ” The Twilight Zone ” .

Re: Los Angeles Times, Article 17 Aug 2009, “Image dousing: Mother Jones takes on Fiji Water”.
    Dear Sir/ Madam,
We as the Australian based Solivakasama Worldwide Movement (SWM) for democracy in Fiji ( would like to strongly appeal to you with respect to the above article as covered in the Los Angeles Times. The author, of the article, Anna Lenzer, is most vexed by what she regards as your company’s unwillingness to challenge the oppressive military junta that has been in control of the country since 2006. For the junta, Lenzer writes, “Fiji Water is a major source of global recognition and legitimacy.”
We as a Fiji pro-democracy organization with 167,000 members worldwide do agree with the views of the author Anna Lenzer which has brought bad publicity to the Fiji Water brand. Therefore we implore and petition your good office to make known to the illegal regime of Commodore Bainimarama to heed the advice of the Pacific Islands Forum in returning Fiji to democratic rule through elections at the earliest by the end of 2010.
The silence by your company on the issue affords the illegal regime global legitimacy in an age where globalization has integrated nations and communities in every way to include global commerce and global politics.
We humbly await your reply on this serious matter affecting the human rights and social well being of all of Fiji’s people. Vinaka Vakalevu.
    Yours Faithfully,

    Solivakasama World Wide Movement

I have been saying for a long time, it’s time to petition the various governments within the Pacific forum, to place an embargo of all goods in and out of Fiji, with the express purpose of starving the Regime of the funding it is receiving from stamp duty, export duty and customs revenue etc.

Also, the United Nations should be Petitioned by the youth of Fiji especially, to demand a halt to the use of Fijians in private Security firms Internationally and in peace keeping Deployments under the Banner of the United Nations.

Although I applaud the efforts to seek help and support from Fiji Water, I feel that we are better off spending out time confronting and making demands of, the Governments and Worldwide Organisations responsible for Freedom and Democracy.

The longer Fijians remain quiet and passive in their approach to this evil phenomenon plaguing the Pacific Island Region, the longer it will take to extract yourselves from the abject poverty that is bound to follow and the longer it will take.

When you take into account, that each coup has cost Fijians over $10,000,000,000 ( ten billion dollars ), and that there has been 3 , 1987, 2000 and 2006, then you are looking at a staggering loss of over $30,000,000,000.
This equates to a loss of over $30,000 per man, woman and child, not to mention the loss to surrounding Pacific Island Nations.

The roll on effect means less services, inferior services, less skilled staff throughout the Region, less opportunities to your Children, yourselves and your Grandchildren.

There is no way, were I an Islander, that I would stand idly by, twiddling my thumbs, standing under the Mango tree drinking kava, while this murderous Rogue Commander took away my life, my dignity and my children’s livelihoods and their futures.

The last time I was back in Fiji, I often walked past some of those responsible for, involved in and behind this latest coup.
I had to do all I could not to yell out ” TRAITOR ” in the main streets of Suva.
It was sickening just to see these pathetic thieves and criminals walking around freely with smug looks on their faces while ordinary Fijians continued to suffer.

And I’m not even an Islander !
So I just don’t get why, something that enrages me, has no effect on Fijians !!!

I don’t know where this man’s loyalty lies, but I feel that he is misguided.
He is a Diplomat, a Public Servant and has avoided the facts that Frank Bainimarama was about to be arrested by Andrew Hughes for sedition in late 2006, just prior to the coup, and that he was about to be questioned for his role in, knowledge of and or involvement in the murders of the 5 C.R.W. Soldiers in 2000 !
No matter Frank Bainimarama’s assertions regarding the Qoli Qoli and Amnesty bills in 2006 as to their being the reason for the coup, those assertions are simply and clearly, untrue.

Given that this man, Peter Thompson, claims that he has been associated with Fiji for 5 generations, one would have to wonder just what his real motivation is for supporting Frank and demonising the Governments of New Zealand and Australia.

It’s interesting that he confirms China’s increased presence in Fiji and it’s potential Political influence consequently.
