At the Marrickville Town Hall , during Mr. Qarase’s visit to Sydney recently , I asked Mr. Qarase this question :-

” Given the many deaths since 2000 under the Commodore’s Command and the human rights abuses etc. under the Commander’s Command since December the 5th. 2006 , where is the incentive , if any , for him to return Fiji to Democracy and what is the likelihood that he will do so ? ”

Mr. Qarase’s reply referred to the fact that with dialogue and a general consensus , a path back to Democracy could be reached !

No disrespect to Mr. Qarase , but we all know that this was a fantasy from the outset and I’m sure Mr. Qarase knew this at the time also !

My point being , now as it was then , how can the Commander , who is under investigation for his alleged involvement of the murders of 5 C.R.W. Soldiers in 2000 , possibly be inclined to return Fiji to a Democracy where he will have to answer to these crimes ?
Just where is the incentive for him to do so ?

Naulukau’s PNG visit is a scene from Shakespeare

There are two ways of looking at this special visit to PNG by Naulukau reported by SVM: first, is that the regime is desperate and Naulukau himself has no shame about exploiting his wife, Koila Mara’s family’s links with the old Chief; the second, is far more sinister and frankly saddening but most likely the reality. Its that the Fiji Junta are exploiting the sentimentality of an old man. Knowing of the Chief’s emotional attachment to his old friend, Ratu Mara, his family and to Fiji, the Junta is actively seeking to exploit this chink in the armour of regional solidairy by sending Naulukau to convince him to break ranks with the Forum and side with the Junta. This is a long shot but the Junta is desperate enough to tgry. But whats so sadl is that Voreqe has let PM Somare down so many times in the past, resulting in a loss of face by the senior statesman of the region. Recall that Somare sent the former High Commissioner Colonel Tikoca to Voreqe to present a tabua on his behalf asking that Voreqe attend the special Forum meeting in Port Moesby in late January. Voreqe refused to accept the tabua and sacked Tikoca. PM Somare was going to present F$1million to Vorege as PNG’s donation to flood relief in Fiji. With Voreqe rejecting Somare’s invitation PNG’s High Commissioner to Suva was supposed to present the cheque himself to Voreqe who only a fortnight earlier was photographed receiveing a donation of some F$10,000 from a NZ-based Indo fijian group. But what Voreqe refused to meet with the PNG High Commissioner to accept PNG’s donation and assigned the task to Epeli Ganilau, Minister for Home Affairs. This is a snub of gigantic proportions in diplomacy terms. I don’t think PM Somare or his minders will forget that easily. I suspect the Junta know this and that damage control is part of Naulukau’s mission to PNG. He will most likely perform a “bulubulu” ceremony on behalf of Voreqe, presenting the old man with a tabua to beg his forgiveness, then when its accepted and after a round of golf at the Port Moresby Golf Club and a few drinks when PM Somare is in a jovial mood away for his minders Brutus will whisper in the ear of Ceaser the real purpose of his visit. All thats needed is for some poor hobbling beggar like Ropate to shout “Beware the Ides of March, Somare.” You too, Australia and New Zealand. For the script Brutus is working to was not written by Brutus or Cassius, Voreqe himself. While both men are known to have rubbished each other saying that the other don’t know what’s he doing, neither of them have the brains to actually know whats going on and who’s pulling the strings. Its none other than Aiyaz, that graduate from Hong Kong University who masquerades as a lawyer but is actually a political scientist in his approach and a iconoclasitc socialist in his ideology. This man wants to destroy in his lifetime institutions that have been built up over many years. He’s go ridden of the Fiji Constituion and phase one of destroying the Forum has been completed with Fiji’s suspension from it. The next phase is to destroy it all together and rebuild a new Forum with Australia and New Zealand outside.
If Somare swallows the bait his fall will be the first of a stack of dominos. The whole region will be quickly engripped by a force of change not of their making but one that will be directed from Hong Kong University. that has as its main goal the destuction of the class system and established cultural, social and economic institutions in the region exactly like what is being attempted in Fiji, and the end result of which the apex of this new order, as Aiyaz likes to refer to on the current situation in Fiji, will be China. But it could also be forces further afield, forces that currently support Al Qaeda. the Taliban and JR in Indonesia
One has only to look at Fiji to realise what Aiyaz, and those who stand behind him, want to achieve. Its a revolution unfoling before our very eyes with most people realising it. And what of Pita Driti and Ului Mara? The supposed Centurions guarding the gates of Rome? These guys are what Mahend Chodo said a few years ago while campaigning for Prime Minister in Fiji. He said of Fijians in positions of power. Give them status and money and they’ll keep quiet and allow you to do the things you want them to do. That medal awarding ceremony at the Presidency where Frank and Driti were awarded medals and which Ului reportedly turned down when offered, is part of the status raising strategy being used to control Voreqe and others in the Military Council. Frank already has benefitted from the money side of thing.
So let’s just see whether Somare will soon be singing a different song. Meanwhile, I’m going back to driving my cab. A few passengers are waiting

There are 26,000 Fijians living in Sydney and now that they have an opportunity to show their support for Democracy in their homeland , we can only muster 1,000 !

I think it’s time that the Fijians living in Sydney who are enjoying our Democracy , which Fijians in Fiji are denied at the moment , rise up and show their support for Democracy .

I challenge the other 25,000 to get off their behinds and join me in the march from Town Hall on the 24th. of May .

See you there , if not , then your absence gives the Regime in Fiji , the power and your absence will condemn Fiji , your Children and your Children’s children to a lifetime of oppression and poverty .

If you can’t make it due to other reasons beyond your control , you can at least rally your friends and neighbours and show your support by donating to the Fiji Democracy and Freedom Movement !

The Germans were so anal with keeping strict records of everything , including the amount of gold knocked out of jews mouths before or after they died , the amount of human skin they used to make lampshades and many other atrocities against Humanity , that those very same records at the Nuremberg trials , were used to convict them !
So i hope that everyone is being anal and keeping strict records of all the things Frank and Co. are doing and who is doing ewhat to whom !

Good update Mark. Yes, every family member is encouraged to attend because a church meeting will end the rally on the Sunday 24th May. My family will for sure rise on the day in support of democracy. Of course each with a banner against the dictator. See everyone there and good luck on the day.
