Day 3 Rev Lasaro Detained

May 14, 2009

At 11.30am today a group of Police Detectives arrived at Rev Lasaro’s Nawanawa home and escorted Rev Lasaro to the CID Headquarters at Suva Street, for interrogation concerning his possible breach of the Fiji Government’s emergency Decree. At 3.30pm, Rev Lasaro was seen in a Police vehicle being taken to his Office at Stewart Street, Suva, where according to reliable information, a search of documents was alleged to have been done.

Rev Lasaro is the Secretary of the Department of Christian Citizenship and Social Services of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma. We are informed that it is in his brief that he should be the voice of the Church concerning matters of nation building and good citizenship. In the 2007 and 2008 conferences, the Methodist Church had taken the stance supporting the Constitution, the rule of law and early return to democracy through elections. In a communique issued by the Methodist Consultative Council of the Pacific in their meeting held in Suva in mid-April 2009, the executives of the Methodist Church had agreed to a common position on issues which, Rev Lasaro, under due process, was merely putting to the 53 divisions Fiji-wide for their deliberation and approval before its submission to the Annual Conference in August.

Meanwhile, news of Rev Lasaro’s detainment has travelled fast through the Church’s communication network. The stance the Church has taken is consistent with the high moral grounds expected of a Church standing up for God’s justice in the circumstances. That a Man of God should be detained for standing up for godly and democratic principles is a very poor reflection on Bainimarama and his regime. Judging from messages of support and inquiries being made from all quarters, it is expected to have a serious backlash on Bainimarama and his regime.

Rev Lasaro is still in Police custody and it is unknown as to when he will be released

May the Lord be with him at this time of persecution.

I hope he has his good book with him so that he can read about those before him who have suffered at the hands of tyrants; John the Baptist, Daniel, Abednigo, etc.

    God bless you all.

The military has shown its true colours by the detainment of Lasaro. Like Bainimarama they are a bunch of losers who cannot make decisions for themselves.

We cannot trust these people with our lives. We know that they have been influenced to the extent that their very roots are being threatened and they still follow blindly.

They see their leadership benefitting monetarily while they get peanuts and they still follow. They note that they are given the dirty work and will face the consequences while their leaders can deny giving orders, yet they still follow.

Our options are to rise up and demonstrate peaceful resistance in numbers or to carry on as it is and hope the regime collapse of exhaustion as they are close to doing so.

Because I am not in Fiji to do so, the first choice even though is my preference, i would not recommend or encourage while I am away. I am glad that there are people like Manasa Lasaro to lead out in situations like this. I can trust him as we have seen in the past that he can stand up for his belief and is prepared to die if need be.

Fijians should stand up for our very survival as a race. our soldiers we thought will protect our interest are protecting the very people who are very interested in destroying what ever is there we call Fijian.

We have Jevovah God to rely on to protect us. Our very own are disowning us. God made us Fijian and who are this people to say that we have the same rights as our Indian folks, Chinese folks, European folks. I hope we can say the same thing when we go to India, China or Europe.

Let’s return to God who will protect and strengthen us.

RFN has hit the nail on the head.

Every Fijian should walk to their nearest Gestapo / police station, go up to the counter and shout, “bananasinpyjamas is a traitor and I oppose the way he has ruined the country”.

When the scared constable has filled up the cells and another 500 Fijians arrive and say the same, where is he going to put you?

What a great way to show bananasinpyjamas that he doesn’t have any support from the people.

And the tin-pot dictator was saying “no one opposed me!”

Sorry, tin-pot dictator but the writing is on the wall (AGAIN!)…you have ALOT OF COURAGEOUS OPPOSERS like Rev. Lasaro…you can’t take the heat (YOU COWARD LOSER) so, you have to detain them and question them for disturbing your FAKE PEACE making idea written on a piece of toilet roll.

GO PEOPLE POWER! GO MAN-OF-GOD! If God is with us, Voreqe cannot (in the long run) still be against us.

    Cos he will rot!!

Franco, franco what are you doing, Mr Piggy. The path you already chose is messy but you still choose to continue to walk forward despite all the warnings. Warnings have come and gone from all direction. Normally, before a cliff, it feels windy and the noises becomes louder. Enjoy the ride because it is rough as you’ve never expected. Your action is irreversible. After all you were born alone and your destination is your choice alone.

The insults from the pig is astounding as it sees no distinction from religious and social segments of life. It just shows the behaviour of a cornered beast which just reacts irrationally in an instinctive defence for its survival.
