Hardened Criminals Join Fiji Police Force – This is no Bull

April 27, 2009

A few weeks ago, I heard a rumour that all you have to do to get promotions in the Fiji Police Force was to join the New Methodsit Church.

And all you have to do if you have a criminal record and wanted to join the police is join the new Methodist Church.

Well voila, it is finally official that this is infact Teleni’s policy.

Rehab yes, actually joining law enforcesors is a bit rich people. Hello, last time I checked, we were still on planet earth and still waiting for the second coming of JC!

NOTORIOUS prisoner Saimoni Rokotunidau has switched from his prison uniform to a police uniform.

And the Fiji Police Force has promised to help turn hardened criminals into law-abiding citizens whose experience law enforcers will rely on to crack down on criminal activities around the country.

After receiving his first pay pack last week, Mr Rokotunidau stood in front of 500 people at a Christian workshop at the weekend to testify about how he was saved from a life behind bars.

Mr Rokotunidau, who has been in and out of prison the past 17 years for robberies in major towns and cities all over the country, was given a second chance by the police as part of the force’s prisoner reform strategy with the Fiji Prisons Department.

SSP Waisea Tabakau said Mr Rokotunidau was recruited after he changed his ways.

“We have taken Saimoni into the Fiji Police Force because we want to help reform these prisoners,” he said.

“This is a new initiative that the force is doing for these hardened criminals.

“The aim of this whole initiative is to reform and help these criminals go on the right path.”

It is understood that Mr Rokotunidau started as a driver with the Police Strike Back Team last week.

He is one of the newly-recruited police constables with the force.

Mr Rokotunidau told the Be a Man workshop organised by the New Methodist Church in Suva that he used to live a life among some of the country’s worst criminals and had been on the run from the police. He said that he won the trust of the lawmen hot on his heels after he dedicated his life to God.

He told participants at the workshop that since he made that decision, he was given a four-wheel-drive Mitsubishi Pajero and a job with the police force.

In 2003, he said, he stowed away to the United States, surviving only on cucumbers and water, he did not eat nor drink anything for five before he reached Oakland in the US.

He said that he when he returned to Fiji in 2005, one of his cases was cleared by judge, Justice Nazhat Shameem.

He said from then until now he has been cleared of all his convictions and serves the Lord faithfully.

He said he only prayed that his previous convictions to be quashed and his new job gave him the chance to work hard and erase his past.

Mr Rokotunidau said there were a lot of bench warrants issued for his arrest and some other pending cases he has to answer to, but that is now all history.

My Father used to take me to Church every Sunday , Christmas and Easter and I became an alter boy .
I’ve not attended church for years and haven’t exactly stuck to the teachings of the Catholic Faith ,.
But one thing i always try and do , is to adhere to the principles of the bible’s teachings .
And I get annoyed when I hear people professing to be virtuous , yet are unable or even unwilling to practice what they preach .
There are some who ask for forgiveness and mean it , and they should be forgiven , because it says in the Bible to err is human , but to forgive divine .

The more we should fight to change the mindset of the people that democray is the only way to go and it should be returned.

    Agree LUVfij!

Conserve energy and if you want to do something positive during these difficult times in Fiji, sponser a Fiji child to continue with their education.

It would be the only effective action any of us could take while the country is under Military Dictatorship.

Ask around – they are still some very caring honest people around in the troubled country.

Children of today if well nutured with a good education can become realiable future leaders who will put the country and its people before themselves.

This attitude is very much lacking in Fiji. Country and People before themselves.

Why are we not surprised? Under the criminal dictatorship of Frank Bainimarama it only follows that criminality should be a qualification for appointment to the disciplined forces.

For example, after a 17-year career as a thief and bail jumper, notorious criminal, Saimoni Rokotunidau, has been given a uniform and a Pajero to become a driver in the Fiji Police Force.

Then there’s the dictator’s brother-in-law, convicted killer, Francis Kean. Not only did he never miss a day’s pay while serving a token sentence for killing John Whippy, but he’s back in his old job as commander of the Fijian Navy!

It’s just another reminder that our dictator is himself deeply implicated in five cases of murder in November 2000.

This appointment of a man with known criminal convictions could be a blessing in disguise when you consider the possible reactions from career Police Officers !
And what happened to Frank’s original assertion that Mr. Qarase shouldn’t have people with convictions in the Government ?
Indeed , the Lord works in mysterious ways .

What about the good school-leaver who is still seeking for a job???…why didn’t they train one of them to be a driver for the Police Strike Back team?

Ia…ia…one day Mafatu and I hope that Mr. Rokotunidau will tell his superiors that they must change too and give us back our democracy!!! Then they should all go and tei tavioka!!!

This does not make sense,a few months ago the illegal Police Commisioner was trying to remove those experience police officers now he is recruiting an ex con to join the police force. This is so risky! What is Teleni doing about this?I don’t get it! Yeah…what about those school leavers who are still seeking for jobs. This is another level of corruption and injustice that is working in our society under this corrupt regime. …The future of the people of Fiji is at risk under this illegal regime!

Big-mouth-Teleni is an apology of a human being. He kicks out able and experienced police officers who turn 55 but still have a lot to contribute and hands the honored uniform to a seasoned criminal who previously spat on that uniform and all those proud and able men and women who earned the right to wear it.
So Big-Mouth-Teleni thinks that that reformed good-for-nothing petty thief will tell his experienced Policemen how to do their business? He must be joking. If I were a Policeman on night patrol and this petty thief tells me what to do, I’ll tell him to go and jump.
Big mouth Teleni is doing to the Police what he did to the failed ‘Operation Veivueti’ under Rabuka. Teleni ran the Military’s Auxillary Unit that purchased food stuff from villagers in the islands and brough it to Suva for sale. I used to buy my taro from their warehouse in Vatuwaqa. The place was a complete shambles. It sustained losses of millions of taxpayers hard-earned dollars. There was no management system, staff did not know there roles, there was no discipline and morale was at rock bottom. That’s exactly how the Police Force has become today. Same leadership, same end-result.
Yet the military and its Commander thought big-mouth Teleni was the best man for the job as Commissioner. What a joke of a human being

    1. Stops Here: Our souls of being kind, humble and forgiving them, enough with talking to Frank, or listening to his bullshit. We will take leadership back to the right road. We will pray to our God when we fight and when we fight God is with us.
    2. Stops Here: The waiting, we will not wait for anyone to come and fight our rights; we will start this ourselves. If other races will help in our war and other nations we will accept them, if not we the indigenous Fijians will do our own battle.
    3. Stops here: Our waiting for the leaders to lead us to our war. it is only going to be done as individuals who will fight with one heart to make everything right. We will start in Suva, we will march, close the roads to all villages, airports, wharfs all over Fiji. We will paralyze Fiji until will get the 1997 Constitution back. Once our demand is met, we hope that love, relations with relatives and other nations will change our land.
    4. Stops here: Being Frightened/scared; We are the ancestors of warriors,we are not afraid of being captured, hurt, or die. For the soldiers and police are our children, and we know that they would not cause us harm to their own relatives. However, if injuries were to happen we will never give up. We will tell our future generation: “For your tomorrow we gave our today”
    5. Stops here: The disrepect with eachother, this is the time we use our strength and our power within us. Our enemies will have a stigma of disrespect , shame and stories of them will follow through to their future generations. Like Judas.

This is our Fight IT STOPS HERE
