Bula Vinaka, Namaste and Dear Foreign Minister Hon. Stephen Smith MP,

Re: ‘Join us in a Coalition of Willing to topple the illegal junta in Fiji and help restore democracy and the rule of law in Fiji’

I would like to commend you and your Government’s stand against the illegal regime in Fiji. The silent, downtrodden majority in Fiji needs a strong leader to advocate on their behalf.

Commodore Vore Bainimarama double talk during the 2008 Pacific Island Leaders Meeting in Tonga shows he is an unscrupulous man. He promised the Leaders, including former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, Fiji would hold General Elections in March 2009, but upon returning to Fiji alleged acting under duress when making this undertaking, implying PM Howard and several other Leaders pressured him into making this statement, which was simply nonsense.

Solivakasama Worldwide Movement is the world’s most popular resistance website against the illegal regime in Fiji. We have the largest membership of any Freedom Movement for Fiji in the world and our membership internationally transcends political, cultural and racial barriers.

I ask you and your Government to join our ‘Coalition of the Willing’ by continuing to hold the illegal regime in Fiji accountable, whilst imposing smart sanctions at the same time.

I can assure you sir, this ‘Coalition of the Willing’ will not attract hostile international condemnation as it did with former PM Hon. John Howard, when he joined US President George Bush’s ‘Coalition of the Willing’ to topple Sadaam Hussein on falsified evidence of weapons of mass destruction, but rather it will attract very positive reactions to you and your Government resulting in the eradication of the coup culture in Fiji.

It is also in Australia’s national interest to ensure no usurper is allowed to take by force lawful authority from an elected government within the Pacific Region and invite foreign influences and rouge elements into the Pacific Region.

I ask you and your Government to endorse Solivakasama Worldwide Movement’s request and join in their ‘Coalition of the Willing’ by agreeing to and acting upon the following:

1.      Refusing visa entry to Fiji’s puppet President Ratu Josefa Iloilo into Australia for medical treatment, medical review or any other medical condition or grounds.

2.      Continue to impose travel bans on Commodore Vore Bainimarama and his current regime appointees, extend ban to holders of important government and statutory positions, coup supporters together with their families and regularly monitor and update your current ban list accordingly.

3.      Writing to the UN and US to revoke forthwith current Peacekeeping Agreements entered into with former legal Fijian Governments serving in the UN and in the MFO and also revoking forthwith secondments to their respective organisation and government.

4.      Withholding of Aid to Fiji making it conditional upon the illegal regime returning government to an interim Caretaker Government to lead Fiji into General Elections.

5.      Amend current Commonwealth Crimes (Foreign Incursions and Recruitment) Act 1978 to incorporate situations such as Fiji where Australian nationals have benefitted by accepting dubious legal appointments to the Judiciary and other government/statutory positions, which were held unlawful by the Fiji Court of Appeal on 09/04/2009.

6.      Use your standing to lobby the Peoples Republic of China to withdraw their support to the illegal regime in Fiji.

7.      Actively lobby other Pacific Island leaders, ASEAN, EU, US, UN, NGO’s, ADB, IMF and any other relevant stakeholder to bring to bear on the illegal regime in Fiji and return power to a Caretaker Government and take Fiji to General Elections.

The innocent victims can accept short term suffering if it sees hope at the end of the tunnel, but will wallow in despair if they see none, as is the current situation. Help us restore democracy back to Fiji, by bringing the perpetrators of the coup to justice and strengthening constitutional government structures to ensure a stronger and law abiding Fiji.

Vinaka vaka levu, Bhaut dhani bhat and thank you.

Are you sure that the dates and names are correct?

My thinking is that it was John Howard who was PM when bananasinpyjamas promised to hold elections in March 2009.

Yes, and it was Alexander Downer who was at the forum. Downer was in Howards govt as the minister for Foreign Affairs.

Bloggers, point taken and thank you for pointing out my mistake. The pig’s undertaking was made in Tonga when PM Howard was still in power and Alexander Downer was his Foreign Affairs Minister. The E-Petitions have been amended accordingly. Once again, vinaka for the vigilence and keep the E-Petitions flowing ragone!

The currency was devalued by 20 percent, the news media by 100 percent but the Honours System has been devalued by a 1000 percent! Every day it seems Frank is looking more like Idid Amin.

He has devalued everything. The RFMF, which once had a proud reputation, is now a laughing stock.

Was the meeting in Tonga in 2008 or 2007?

My thinking is that it was the latter as John Howard couldn’t attend as he had just called an election; thus he sent Alexander Downer to represent him.
