Elections best held in 2011: Rabuka

March 17, 2009
Bloggers, well the father of the coup supports General Elections for 2011. Unfortunately for Rabuka, he forgets he no longers commands the support of the Fijians he once did in 1987. SWM still insists on holding General Elections ASAP. What do you think?

Former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has advised the interim Government not to worry about the Commonwealth-issued September deadline for elections.

Speaking to Fijilive, Rabuka said he believed the general elections should not be rushed into.

“In my opinion, the best time to have elections would be 2011, as that would be five years after the interim Government came into power. And normally, we give a time frame of five years for the new government and budget cycle to work,” Rabuka said.

He said the interim Government should ignore the pressure from the Commonwealth.

“We should anticipate being suspended from the Commonwealth as we have already missed their deadline,” Rabuka said.

He stressed that the worst step the Commonwealth could take was to suspend Fiji.

“Right now, the nation needs to concentrate on race relations and political differences,” Rabuka said.

The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) at its meeting in London early this month issued a deadline that Fiji return to parliamentary democracy by September this year, or be subjected to suspension from the Commonwealth.

Well while Rabuka might say that, others just question his credentials – which are simply that (like Frank) he happened to have the guns at his disposal in order to effect something not all wanted. Other than that he hasn’t anything to be proud of, though I’m sure – just like Frank, he has an over inflated opinion of himself, the same degree of self interest and wannabe self-aggrandisement.
By all accounts he wasn’t even that brilliant at being a soldier either.
It’s kind of predictable how these self-appointed pop-idols pop their heads up from time to time – usually when they think they haven’t had enough publicity recently. Not only do they want to feed at the trough of the taxpayer, but also the media feeding trough too (just so long as they think they can control it.
When do you suppose we’ll next hear from Shaista? She’ll be puffing desperately on a joint wondering how in hell she can give us all some of her wisdom, so too Bubba. Wait for it……wait for it……..!!!!
They all remind me of little kids in toilet training. Try hard try hard, and then the look of self satisfaction after they drop their pathetic little turds.
Way way after time they grew up me thinks

By the way, if anyone’s planning it, Rabuka takes the bullet from behind, rather than face to face. I’ll feel an appropriate degree of sorrow for the family and those left behind. but like KtF says………”NEXT”

Yea well Kingrat, the feeling is completely understandable – people probably think I’m advocating violence lately with some of my posts. I’m not at all. Anyone that does other than in self-defence loses the moral high ground. But it does serve to show the double standards between RFMF thuggery and the degree to which people have indulged them so far. They should always be mindful of the fact that the ONLY thing that gives them illegitimate power is the fact that they have access to weapons. There is NOTHING else that places them above anyone else.
I hope Shaista, Bubba, Gates and a few others are monitoring the situation in Pakistan because if they are, they’ll be wondering whether it was all worth it.
If violence DOES come to pass, whether in the short term, or sometime in the future, not one of them can claim “victimhood” – which is something they all try to do now.

Good one about potty training Tim!

Little “turds” is a great metaphor for Shyster and iArse’s little pearls of legalese “wisdom”.

Who is Bubba, by the way?

I hope the Commonwealth countries and the US are reading this from Rambo to not allow him to travel to their democratic countries with the kind of low-life suggestion and “tabe-tabe” such as this one.

@Tim…yes to democracy and Pakistan restoring its Chief Judge goes to show that even after a long military-led government with Musharraf, PEOPLE POWER will always prevail ONLY IF PEOPLE WITH INTEGRITY PERSEVERE!!

Unlike our bought-out ex-CJ and the likes of coup perpetrators (Rabuka, Vore, SPeight) and their supporters.

Well done Pakistan! and to the old geezers who are afraid to lead the nonviolent march to restoring democracy…rem., we want CONCRETE PLANS FOR THE NON-INTERFERENCE OF THE MILITARY IN THE FUTURE…STRAIGHT TO PRISON FOR THEM ALL BeeS!!!!

    @ JDA: Bubba = Iyarse.

It’s because he is never far from his mother’s titties. Mother being The Shyster. She feeds him everything and he just dances to her tune.

The other mother of his sits on the bench. Her mothering skills however have been said to border on “incest” if you catch my drift.

Someone told me that Indians were attacked under Rabuka’s coup in 1987 , can anyone let me know if this is true or was he trying to have them protected from the masses . I have been told both things !

If any bloggers work in the banks, or have relations who do – Please can you check Rabuka’s bank account balance statements over the past 2 years. Any large deposits might explain his tune.

The statement that really gets my goat is this – “In my opinion, the best time to have elections would be 2011, as that would be five years after the interim Government came into power. And normally, we give a time frame of five years for the new government and budget cycle to work,” Rabuka said.
Yeah right, Steve. Except that the 5 year time frame is for ELECTED government, not for ILLEGAL government.

Furthermore, concentrating on race relations and political differences is the job of an ELECTED leadership, not of an ILLEGAL, ENFORCED leadership. Because any first year political philosophy undergraduate can tell you that enforced doctrines have the most stubborn way of unravelling the second the enforcers look the other way, and sometimes even sooner, as the malodorous Chodokant found out to his detriment.

Vore will have no success in changing the path of our people. The only consequences of his that will succeed is the unintended consequences, which will firmly bite him in the Aiyarse.
    God bless Fiji

But then Rambo always has been an opportunist and so it would not surprise me AT ALL if he is also sitting & maneouvering from the Military Council.

On Rabuka , does anyone think that he may be either behind this coup from the start or possibly even the one pulling Frank’s strings ?
Another possibility might be that he is Frank’s bitch !

Na cava tiko mada o Rabuka and I believe the point raised by Fiji Girld needs to be investigated or maybe it is simple – keep his ex Pm allowance coming even though LQ has been denied his? What a shame rabuka? definitely Australia, New Zealand, USA and UK should take heed of this type of people – they might not physically be working for governemnt but comments coming out of their silly bucket of a mouth keeps this stupid IG beleiveing they are doing and saying the right thing.

I think Rambo’s dribble is just typical military obfuscation.

He’s just trying to get himself off their radar screens for some reason.

Not sure why he’d bother though as he is a spent force politically, militarily, and based on this outburst – intellectually.

2011 is ridiculous because all the reasons Rambo listed are undone by the simple premise that beggars can’t be choosers! Fiji’s economic prospects are now so dire that the Regime can’t afford to ignore the dangling carrots of foreign aid (replete with democratic strings attached) anymore.
