Stop the attack, lawyer urges

March 16, 2009

Yadra bloggers, these cowards hide behind the clock of night and continue with their terror tactics. Don’t they realise just how stupid they look? They are paid by the goons who march around in guns, yet they have to resort to these kinds of cowardly tactics. The evidence is strong enough because it is only people who openly oppose or represent those claimed by the illegal junta to be against them that end up with broken car windows. What a shame says SWM but you know what? If their objective was to intimidate, then it has backfired because it only hardens their resolve!

IF Fiji is to move ahead with the political dialogue, acts of terror and intimidation must stop, says former Fiji Law Society president Graham Leung.

Mr Leung said all right-thinking people would condemn the act of terror and intimidation on democracy advocate Attar Singh. He said the Constitution guaranteed freedom of speech and conscience and Mr Singh simply expressed his view on the political situation.

“I would urge authorities to leave no stone unturned and apprehend or catch those behind this crime. Mr Singh is an unarmed civilian. This is completely unacceptable for him to receive this kind of treatment,” said Mr Leung.

“Fiji needs to create a climate of confidence and freedom to allow free exchange of ideas and to allow different points of view to come across.”

Mr Leung said it would not be right to standby mute and allow these acts of terror to continue.

Seems to me these “shut-up” attacks are targeted specifically against persons who might otherwise be expected to support the regime’s alleged political goals, if not its overt methods.

Note that for the time being, no card-carrying SDL supporter has been targeted for these kinds of attacks. (That may change soon though, just to muddy the waters).

Only those who would normally be expected to be more to the political centre, or even the left, of the ideological spectrum. But who, because of the Regime’s clear lack of principle, achievement, and flexibility, have seen through the Emperor’s claims of resplendent, multi-racial, good governance clothing!

This is a typically military focus – stop the enemy from outflanking you by pre-empting or upsetting his alliances!

The only problem is that those alliances are not being formed by the SDL – they are being self-organized by the participants themselves as a DIRECT result of the Regime’s own failures, lies and misdeeds!

The men carrying out the midnight attacks against those who speak out are not paid by the goons but are the goons themselves . . . such tactics are referred to as ‘low intensity military operation’ and was widely used by the apartheid regime in South Africa and the military in Chile, among others, to silence opposition. The next step up, of course, are the right wing death squads!!!!

Iam sure those squads carrying out these raids on unarmed civilians feeling guilty of their actions and afraid of the consequences of not following orders.

We should think of ideas of drawing these people out and making them confess and expose their superiors.

I know it is wrong to let this people go scot=free but they can be promised lighter sentences. They could have documents signed and filed away for those days when we are liberated.

They can be double agents and used by us to infiltrate the military network.

It makes you wonder why the Shaista doesn’t speak out against what Jean d’Ark describes as attacks on those in the ideological centre, or to the left. It’s because she’s basically full of shit!
I used to wonder where the failed staunch neo-liberal went after the rest of the world realised they’re responsible for the mess the world economy is in today. No longer, they pop their heads up in places like Fiji in the form of a Samy – except none of them have courage enough to declare their convictions – they just take the fee and hide behind a military regime and all it’s hijacked apparatus (including a pistol-shooting champion of human rights, and an opportunist and over-ambitious interim-illegal-Attorney General).
What’s worse is despite their supposed intelligence, they still haven’t realised that everyone has them pegged. That’s arrogance I spose but in the eyes of the world they’re looking pretty bloody stupid about now!

I have an after thought and a message for Shaista. It was a phenomenon that often used to accompany poor little rich kids during the 70s from suburbs like Khandallah and Fendalton in NZ.
They’d profess some socialist ideal except every weekend they’d take their laundry home to mummy, have their hands out for a bail-out due to their overspending and living beyond their means all the while chanting long live Che. Many of them went on to become curency traders, politicians even, or often parked up in some cushy secure little number courtesy of the wealthy parent. (Just as an aside, twenty years on, most of their kids have proven to be total fc*kups as well- often despite the efforts of Marist Bros Inc.).
The message to Shaista and her little over-ambitious protoge is that it isn’t about fashion you stupid idiotic bitch, it’s actually about conviction. If you took the joint out of your face for half a mo’ and actually thought it through you might have realised – too late – oh well – what a pity!.
If you want to stay childish and young – get yourself a Jane Fonda fitness video cos you’re not fooling anyone. Same goes for some of those other dried up prunes like Scutt and others. You’re all actually as guilty of being the worst of abusers.
If that silly bitch ever had any idea of coming across as legitimate – she’d have gone “slumming” – and so would have her pompous bullshitting sister as well.

These nighttime attacks on personal property are becoming so frequent that, in themselves, they constitute something of a minor crime wave.

And what an amazing coincidence that, in each case, the victim is an individual who the regime does not like!

In fact, it is stretching the long arm of coincidence to the point of snapping.

But don’t expect the long arm of the law to come into play. It will stay deeply buried in the pocket of criminal complicity.

    It’s a little old fashioned don’t you think ?
didn’t the S.S use the same tactics pre 2nd. world war and their 1,000 year Reich lasted 6 years !

  8. Jean d'Ark permalink

The SS and the Reich over-stepped the mark because they were led by ideological psychopaths.

Frank has his mental issues, but I wouldn’t peg him as a psychopath just yet. He certainly has it in him, but the regime seems determined to keep things at the level of “light torture” for now.

That will keep people like Mataca, Gates and Yabaki on side for now, while leaving the door open to a future return to normality with themselves safely ensconced in the barracks without too many axes grinding for them.

So for the opposition, we just need to come to terms with the fact that broken windows and police cautions are about the full extent of price of free speech for now.

If we let that minor annoyance deter us, then perhaps that is a “qui tacet consentire videtur” suggesting we don’t really deserve much better than what we’re getting!

This is something the diplomatic community has mentioned previously – they cannot be seen to be taking the lead in Fiji’s return to Parliamentary rule. It must be the people of Fiji leading the charge – with them in support!

Folks if you live in the vicinity of those who continue to be vocal about our need to return to democracy, you CAN help by keeping your eyes peeled “neighbourhood watch” style for these idiots running riot under the cloak of darkness.

In case they didn’t realise from the Rabaka case, people are willing to stand up in court as eyewitnesses to ensure that justice prevails — so record everything: dates, times, rego, car make/model, numbers of individuals, clothing type etc etc.

Time to beat them at their own silly games — we can play cowboy too suckeRs!

There are a couple of posts on RFN about the President’s Political Dialogue Forum and the cynical attitude to it all. When attacks such as these occur they simply show that the junta is NOT genuine and nor is it credible. It never has been. It’s motivated by ego, opportunism and self-interest, and guess who is paying the price! How many examples does this junta need to make them realise they’re on a road to nowhere?

People in Fiji should be setting up voice activated and motion sensing devices to secretly record movements etc. around their homes to gather evidence which , if not used in court , can be downloaded to youtube , myspace etc. for the world to see , so judgement can be made in the public arena rather than a kangaroo court in Fiji . Also , well placed telescopes , listening devices and binoculars or night seeking goggles if you can get a hold of them should be deployed to spy on these idiots .

The real police, not Teleni will expose stoning thugs
    March 16, 2009
The vehicle DG264 that was used to smash Fiji Times Editor, Netani Rika’s car, is confirmed to have been used by the same military hit squad sent out by their superiors to damage properties belonging to anti-regime individuals.

Sources say the real law-abiding police officers already know who the culprits are, but it is Teleni who is stopping them from making it public.

It is said that this is the same hit squad involved in sending out those death threats to the Australian High Commissioner, James Batley.

But watch as the names of those stone throwers will be leaked out soon!

I’m wondering if these are the same men who beat to death , the CRW soldiers in the back of police vans in 2000 , while driving them around the back streets of suva and people listened to their death cries in the still of the night .
I hope their ghosts haunt Frank and Co. to their graves .
Does anyone know if they are the same cowards here as those who killed those men in 2000 ? If so , what are their names and can we expose them ?

They are certainly part of the groups that went out systematically rounding up people for ‘a nice chat over a cuppa tea’ at the camp in the early days of the coup and of course the more drastic burning of the Ward’s place in Pacific Harbour and so on.

The point is though, if their cause is just, then why on earth the need for intimidation?

The RFMF is truely made up of idiots…

I think a sustained advertising campaign showing all potential tourists what atrocities are happening in Fiji , might help stop them at the cost of destroying what is left of the tourism . But the offshoot might be , that it would help bring the regime closer to breaking point .
What about someone getting some clips , and putting them on youtube or making up your own advertising campaign which highlights the truth of what is happening in fiji . It could be called , Fiji Tourist or Visit Fiji !

Think about it now , marketing tourism in Fiji is being paid for increasingly by the public purse . Tourist operators are having to sack more staff because of the decrease . But if a negative add campaign directly targeting the remainder of the already falling tourism industry was carried out and managed to destroy what is left of it , then the operators will have to reach out to the International Authorities to bring an end to the coup . And that’s got to be worth the long term goal for the short term pain .
Fiji Tourism operators have far more influence with other Businesses in and outside Fiji and can achieve much more with their lobbying of support and the loss of revenue to the regime would be another nail in the coffin .

Tim. We agree the RFN pieces make for good reading and we think few people have been fooled by the political dialogue forum process to date.

If there wasn’t the implicit threat posed by Frank’s guns our various political leaders would have made it clear a long time ago. that the only way to go is to have elections first and then look at changes to the electoral system.

Instead, they are being forced into a kind of charade that creates the impression of progress but, in reality, plays right into our dictator’s hands.

At the end of the day all he wants is time because he knows that the more time he has the greater his options.

For example, if the president were to die, what do you think Frank would try to do?

  19. March 17, 2009 6:54 AM

One other thing: We notice that the Idiots and Goons Blog (IG-Fiji) has now been dormant for exactly one calendar month.

We can’t imagine they have run out of bulls**t to spray around, because that’s the one thing the regime has never had any trouble producing.

Perhaps they have simply found it too hard countering all the anger, distrust and cynicism that is out there, all of which is of their own making.

Ironically, their last posting was entitled “Irony.”

The main source of hits they had on the site were their own posting a re-reading of articles.

No point wasting your time on that if nobody is logging on and reading your efforts under their own volition.

Same thing happened to the military’s first blog site when Drippy got the Media Cell to launch one shortly after they realized they couldn’t trace or shut down the freedom blogs in 2007.

Ditto for Viti Attention Seeker’s FLP-sponsored anti-freedom-blog which tried the same and failed with the same trick in 2008.

So Shyster and iArse’s smart-alec answers and opinions didn’t make a lick of difference to that.

Also I think that blog was launched in an attempt to simulate some kind of popular cyber-support on the other side of the coup argument, for the specific consumption of the Forum/Commonwealth.

So when the international community didn’t fall for that straw-man ruse, the useless fabrication was dropped like a pork-pie in a synagogue.
